Serious illnesses like heart disease and stroke are preventable. Finding out whether you’re at risk of these conditions and then taking action to live more healthily means problems are less likely to develop later on.
That’s why we’re offering everyone between the ages of 35 and 74 years a Free NHS Heart Check at their GP surgery.
The Free NHS Heart Checks consist of a consultation with the practice nurse who’ll do some quick tests, take some measurements and then calculate your risk level. You’ll then get advice on how to make the kind of lifestyle changes that are right for you.
Because even little changes can significantly reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke.
There’s lots of different support available locally to help you do this.
The checks are open to people who have a GP in Blackburn with Darwen and have not already been diagnosed with a heart disease, kidney disease or diabetes.
They can help pick up on any risks associated with conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and kidney disease, which can sometimes be prevented by improvements or alterations to lifestyles.
