Mobile Cancer Information Service for East Lancashire
The Mobile Cancer Information Service for East Lancashire is a 3 year project which has been funded by the New Opportunities Fund. The aim of the project is to display and provide information about cancer using a publicity vehicle (pictured above). The display vehicle that was launched in June 2002 is available to visit Supermarkets, Town Centres, Health Events, Schools and Asian Melas and Festivals throughout East Lancashire.
Many members of the public have already visited the vehicle and taken away valuable information. Examples of the types of information available are listed below:
Awareness Information
Specific Site Information e.g. Breast, Lung, Prostate, Head & Neck etc
Helplines and Support Groups
Cancer Charities
Hospice Care (Some of the information is available in Asian languages and/or on Audio tape).
The Mobile Cancer Information Service is also working closely with East Lancashire Smoking Cessation Service. It is envisaged that 2 or 3 Smoking Cessation Programmes will be carried out each year.
The Cancer Information Vehicle is available to visit any community venue or event in East Lancashire. If you require more information then please contact: Angela Duckworth, Project Manager on 01282 475127.
