Following recent media coverage, Blackburn with Darwen Care Trust Plus advises any patient who is concerned about PIP breast implants to seek clinical advice from their GP or the surgical team that carried out the implant. The NHS will support removal of implants if there is a clinical need and will replace the implants if the original operation was done by the NHS.
In line with Department of Health guidance, patients who underwent their surgery in the private sector will be advised to contact their original provider in the first instance and the Government has clearly stated that it is encouraging private providers to offer the same service as the NHS without cost to the patient.
