Enabling Patient Informed Choice
NHS North West is pleased to invite you to a half day workshop to understand more about the benefits of, and issues surrounding, patient access to GP health records.
Many practices have the ability to enable patient access to records now and discussions are taking place nationally about how and when other system providers will make this service available.
In the North West, we already have 15 practices that offer access to records in this way, with one practice recently announcing their 1000th patient registration.
At this event you will:
-
Hear from patients who routinely access their records
-
Hear from practices who offer this service, and understand more about the processes involved in setting up and managing patient access and the benefits of offering this service
-
See the functionality available
-
Have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to our panel
-
Find out how you can progress this locally – either as a patient or a GP practice – and receive ‘toolkit’ information to support you
This event is in response to:
-
Government proposals that patients’ records should become routinely available to them, starting with GP records (as set out in the recent White Paper) – ‘No decision about me without me’
-
The 2011/2012 Operating Framework, which states access to records must be reported on from April 2011
