Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council has fully embraced the R.L.S.S. Lifesavers IQL and National Pool Lifeguard Qualification as a minimum requirement for all lifeguards. We deliver courses to enable candidates to achieve these qualifications.
The intensive 6 day course (minimum 38 hours) candidates will be trained in all aspects of pool safety, first aid and rescue skills in swimming pools and swimming pool supervision.
The qualification is in two units:
Unit 1: The principles of lifesaving and swimming pool supervision, which comprises four elements and is externally assessed.
Unit 2: The application of supervision and rescue in a swimming pool. This unit comprises seven elements and is continually assessed.
The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is recognised by pool operators across the country.
