Residents are urged to be part of the NHS reforms by coming to Blackburn with Darwen’s next health and well being board.
The borough is one of the first in the country to set up a new board as part of government changes to the NHS.
As part of the government plans, all councils are required to have a board in place from 2013.
As an “early adopter” of the scheme, Blackburn with Darwen set up a shadow board to begin developing partnerships with the area’s Care Trust Plus, which is set to be abolished under the health reforms, the emerging GP consortia, which will replace the primary care trust, and the voluntary sector.
The board’s remit will include agreeing priorities for funding to support social care; work with the GP groups to improve health and oversee arrangements for the transfer of public health to the council.
The meeting takes place on June 15 at in Activity Two Room at BwD Carers Service, Kingsway Housing, Greenhurst Place, Blackburn, BB2 1NA between 4pm and 6pm.
Members of the public are urged to come along to see the board in action.
