Views are sought on plans to change the way dental patients are referred to hospital.
The proposals would see referrals going through a centralised system to ensure that they are managed appropriately.
The move follows an increase in referrals to hospital, which has increased costs and inconvenience to patients.
It is estimated that the changes would make the system more efficient and help reduce delays in treatment.
It will also help to ensure that patients are not sent to hospital if they can be seen in the community more conveniently.
Patients may for example be referred to the community dental service or a dentist who specialises in the treatment that they require.
