Blackburn with Darwen GP Clinical Commissioning Group is celebrating having been named as a GP commissioning pathfinder.
The commissioning group was selected by the Department of Health to be part of a wider network of pathfinders across the country.
The status will mean the group will be invited to share any lessons learned or new ways of doing things on a national scale.
It will also be given responsibility for sharing knowledge and experience with other GPs and debating challenges or celebrating successes.
This is the fifth wave of clinical commissioning pathfinders that have been announced by government, which encourages pathfinders to test new models being developed for the commissioning of care.
Pathfinders will test new commissioning arrangements before more formal arrangements come into place.
Chair of Blackburn with Darwen GP clinical commissioning group, Dr Chris Clayton, said: "We are delighted to be named a pathfinder as this is a great opportunity for the Blackburn with Darwen GPs.
"It means we can take more of a role to develop health care on a national scale and demonstrate to other GPs what practices we are developing locally."
