Thanks to a new translation tool being introduced to NHS Choices, information on NHS services, public health issues and wellbeing advice is now available in multiple languages.
New text appointment confirmation service
East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust has announced that from November 1 it will operate a new confirmation service for most outpatient appointments
Everything you ever wanted to know about 111
NHS 111 is a Department of Health developed vision of a Single Point of Access for urgent care. Callers will be triaged using a clinical call handling system and signposted to a local service. It will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. In future if people need urgent care there will only be three numbers; 999 for life-threatening emergencies; their GP surgery; or 111.

A year on from a Ministerial review that confirmed the importance of Summary Care Records in supporting urgent and emergency care, patient groups are advocating its use to improve care for the millions of people with long term conditions they represent.
