New Radiology Facilities will be in operation at the Blackburn LIFT on Barbara Castle Way from the week commencing 30th January.
As a result, from Wednesday, January 1, patients for plain film imaging should be encouraged to attend the LIFT where possible for any routine x-ray examination as an alternative to attending the main x-ray department.
This is an open access, drop in service, operating Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Patients are invited to attend from any primary care source.
However, Ultrasound is not an open access drop in service and there is no facility to make appointments for this service on the Blackburn LIFT site.
Plain film imaging of a maxillofacial or Dental nature is also not available in this unit. It is also advised that patients who require imaging to exclude bony injury, following trauma or who are acutely unwell should be advised to attend a main Radiology Department.
At the same time provision of plain film imaging access on the Royal Blackburn Hospital site will alter. From the week commencing January 30, there will be no access for GP patients on Tuesday and Thursday between 9am and 13pm with the exception of urgent requests. During these times, all other patients should be advised to attend the Blackburn LIFT for their X-Ray examination or attend one of our main sites at an alternative time.
Although access to Non Obstetric Ultrasound services remains the same. Please forward requests to the main Radiology Department and an appointment will be made.
