The creation of a single integrated management team (SIMT) for the Care Trust Plus and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council has begun with the appointment of Graham Burgess as the joint Chief Executive.
The SIMT will be responsible for the strategic management of both organisations and includes a newly formed executive team to support the new chief executive. Harry Catherall, has been appointed Deputy Chief Executive with a portfolio responsibility for health and well being, Neil Matthewman is the new Managing Director for health services and Andrew Lightfoot is the Managing Director for local government services.
The new structure is designed to put Blackburn with Darwen in the strongest possible position to respond to the challenging economic climate, as well as the changes set out in the NHS White Paper that will mean even closer links between local government and the NHS in the future.
There will now be further re-structuring over the next 12 months to achieve single integrated
management across the Council and Care Trust and this will take place in full consultation
with staff, staff side and stakeholders of both organisations.
Watch out for further updates in forthcoming editions of eGP.
