The Care Trust Plus has to make £8.9m savings in 2010/11, with further savings needed to 2013/14 due to the estimated £15 to £20bn shortfall in NHS budgets nationally.
This year’s savings will result in a number of service changes and cuts that are already being communicated to GPs, pharmacies and service users and may become more widely publicly known.
A communications strategy with key messages is being developed by the Care Trust’s communications team to manage the issue and ensure consistent communications around individual services changes. This will link in with proposals for a joint public consultation around Council and NHS cuts in the autumn.
Further information will be available in the next edition of eGP.
