The Waterside Health and Wellbeing Centre in the Infirmary area of Blackburn, which is planned to be a full GP practice that will cater for at least 6,000 patients, is at the moment going through a lengthy procurement process to make sure the best services are available there.
But procurement has been put on hold because the Care Trust Plus has yet to be given full details of what funding will be available beyond 2011.
Paul Hinnigan, director of finance and investment for the Care Trust Plus, said: “We know residents in the Infirmary area are eagerly awaiting the opening .
“There has been a delay to its opening because uncertainty over some of the funding. This is to be expected during these challenging economic times.
“We are very hopeful that we will get the money but we wanted to keep residents informed of what is happening , which we will continue to do.”
