Originally from Rossendale, Chris left to train in Cambridge and after completing clinical studies, spent time training in Cardiff and South Wales and then Birmingham and the West Midlands before returning with his wife to Lancashire, joining Darwen Healthcare in 2004; together, they have two young children.
Within his practice, Chris undertakes a leadership role in GP training and primary care access, enhanced by his experience working for the RCGP and DH on their joint Improving access initiative in 2010. From 2006 Chris expressed a wider interest in population health by joining the BwD Practice Based Commissioning board where he held the role of clinical lead in data analysis and in 2008, Chris was elected to represent Darwen on the Local Medical Committee. He was appointed to be a Clinical Commissioning Champion for the RCGP in 2010 and was elected as Chair of the Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group in 2011. He wishes to see the hard work of Blackburn with Darwen’s healthcare team being recognised for the successes they have achieved to date and for the improved patient outcomes that they will deliver in the future.
Malcolm was born in Haydock, Lancashire, and completed his medical training in Manchester, where he qualified in 1979. He then went onto to complete a vocational training scheme in Blackburn, and in 1983 became a member of the Royal College of GPs. He worked initially as a GP in Haydock, and then moved to Blackburn where he has been a GP since 1987.
Malcolm co-founded and was Chairman of the local GP out of hours service, resigning in 2008.
He has worked for the PCT/CTP since 2000 latterly as Medical Director and Professional Executive Committee Chairman. He is also a member of the Clinical Commissioning Group. He has worked with the Strategic Health Authority and Department of Health in a number of areas such as Quality Innovation Productivity and Prevention (QIPP) and urgent care.
His interests include golf (10 handicap) and classic cars and he occasionally works for Blackburn Rovers Football Club as a crowd doctor. Married since 1978, he has 3 daughters, one of whom now works within the pharmaceutical industry and another is a nurse.
Alastair was born in Glasgow and qualified as a doctor in Manchester in 1981. He then moved to Blackburn and worked in General Medicine till achieving membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1984. He then switched to train as a GP and became a member of the Royal College of GPs in 1987. He started a new General Practice in Shadsworth, Blackburn in 1988, and still works there, having been a GP Trainer since 1992 and has seen the Practice grow to become quite large.
He became the Chairman of the Blackburn with Darwen Primary Care Group in 1998 and led the process to become a 1st wave PCT in 2000. He then became the Professional Executive Committee Chair till he resigned in 2004. He led the bid for Blackburn with Darwen to become a Teaching Primary Care Trust for East Lancashire and continued as Chair of the Education Partnership Board till he resigned in 2006. He has recently been elected to be on the Clinical Commissioning Group Board.
He is married with three children and his interests include badminton and walking: although he plays the bagpipes this is now only an annual event. He is closely involved with his local church.
Pervez completed vocational training locally in 2004 and joined a medium sized practice as a partner soon after.
Prior to being elected on BwD CCG he was a member of the Practice Based Commissioning group. Likes to be involved with the health and well being of BME and is a member of the McMillan Charity group locally.
Pervez is married with 4 sons who are currently in education.
Interests include reading, cooking and playing snooker.
Zaki was born in Zambia and qualified as a doctor in Aberdeen in 1998. Subsequently he completed his GP training in Accrington in 2005. He has been a full time G.P. working at Brookhouse Medical Centre in Blackburn for the past six years. Zaki also works for the East Lancashire Out of hours medical service on a regular basis and is on a panel to provide accident claims reports.
Zaki is the first in his family to venture into the medical field, other family members are business orientated.
Zaki is married and in his spare time exercises a little and entertains his 2 year old daughter a lot. He also enjoys watching football (armchair supporter!)
Tom attended Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Blackburn and left to study medicine at Magdalen College, Oxford University from 1981-1987. Since 1991 he has been a full time GP at Brownhill Surgery, Blackburn and has developed expertise in medical politics, health care commissioning, advisory work, GP training, GP appraisal and quality issues.
He is currently the GP lead in pathology redesign (QIPP) for Lancashire and South Cumbria.
He also sits as an elected GP board member on the Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group.
Outside interests include watching Manchester United FC and being a Francophile.
