Blackburn with Darwen’s Clinical Commissioning Group is currently based on the borough boundaries, in other words the area covered by Blackburn with Darwen Council.
There are 31 GP practices and they will all be involved in making decisions about health services. Each practice has put forward one of their doctors to sit on a group called the ‘clinical senate’ and GPs will work closely with the Care Trust Plus to agree the financial plan for 2012/13.
The CCG will plan services including planned hospital care, rehabilitation services, urgent and emergency care and most community services. They will work closely with patients to make sure the services they choose are the right ones to meet your needs.
The Clinical Commissioning Group is run by a team of six GPs who have formed an executive committee after being elected by GP colleagues earlier this year. This will eventually become a commissioning board that also includes hospital doctors and nurses among its members.
