Harry is Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Deputy Chief Executive. He is also lead officer for interface with NHS and various LSP Groups.
Alongside the programme area responsibilities, he leads on a variety of cross cutting development programmes agreed by the Executive Board (Cabinet) for example, project sponsor for Building Schools for the Future and academy development.
He was previously executive director, corporate resources for just over two years and prior to that, Deputy Director of Social Services here at Blackburn with Darwen, joining the authority late 1997 in the run up to it becoming a unitary authority.
Harry began his career with Tameside MBC in 1979 with whom he spent almost 10 years and trained and qualified as an accountant. He subsequently enjoyed postings with the Audit Commission and finally some eight years at Stockport Council during which time he moved into social services and developed his career in general management prior to joining Blackburn with Darwen.
He is delighted to be the Local Authority Officer Representative on the Care Trust + and believes the Plus element provides a fantastic opportunity to address the long standing health inequalities and achieve an overall significant improvement in our citizens health to help the borough prosper in to the future.
